Reduce the size of your PDF files quickly and free
My uncle Emilio, who now has time to enjoy the Internet, has informed me of a tool recommended by the Microsiervos website that allows reducing, for free, the size of PDF documents without apparently losing quality.
Many times, when we generate a PDF from any program, we end up with a huge file, several Mb in size, which is not very suitable for sending by e-mail. If we have included photographs or graphics, the size of the PDF tends to be enormous.
And this is where this utility, called SmallPDF (small PDF), fulfills its work of wonder. I have tried with files of different sizes and get different levels of compression, depending on the file content, but almost always an important saving of space is obtained. In some cases the files have remained at 10% of their original size.
To use the tool you do not have to install any program, register on any page, or remember user names or passwords. You simply visit the page smallpdf.com and release the file to be compressed there. In a few seconds the file is sent and compressed, offering you the option to download it to your computer or leave it directly in your Dropbox or Google Drive mailbox. As the compression operation is done in the cloud, it does not depend on the computing power of your computer and it is a very fast process.
Another advantage of being a tool in the cloud is that it can be used from any device, regardless of whether it is Windows, Mac or Linux. And for more security, the files are deleted after an hour after being processed.
But why is it interesting that a PDF occupy the smallest possible space? There are many reasons, but the most obvious ones may be that a smaller PDF takes up less space on your hard drive, takes less time to send and receive by email, and takes less time to open and print. If you are going to upload it to your web page, it will also occupy less hosting space and your visitors will take less time to read or download it. As you see, everything is advantages.
And the same page also offers other interesting free tools that allow you to convert between JPG and PDF, unite, separate and unlock PDFs and convert to PDF Office documents (Word, Excel and Powerpoint).
If you want to thank the service, the page invites you to donate three dollars in Paypal or donate bitcoins, but it is totally voluntary. Great invention, yes sir. Thanks dude.
