Nutrition and ignorance
Nutrition and ignorance
This afternoon, enjoying the holidays and the descent of temperatures that has relieved my aversion to the suffocating heat, I had a beer on a terrace and I could not help but hear a conversation between two ladies who were at the next table. I transcribe what they have said, literally:
- What you're going to drink does not get much fatter? (It was a soft drink in a small bottle that I could not identify).
- I do not know, let's see what it says ... 70 calories.
- Oh, well, a meal is more than a thousand calories, that's little.
- Well, for a soda it's enough.
- No, woman.
- No, wait ... (re-read the label) It has 70 kilocalories per hundred grams.
- Ah, Kilocalories! Well, much better! Then there are 70 calories for every kilo! When does that weigh?
- I think a hundred grams.
- So they are (think) ... 17 calories! Order a whole box!
Incredible the ability of the lady to not give one! By the way, both had an important overweight, and when I say important, I calculate that they would have 20 or 30 kilos each. I can think of some reason for that ...
