I tried this on one of my sites and my AdSense earnings for the last month were much higher than they normally are. I agree that one month's statistics are not enough to prove anything, but still no problem trying.

The logic behind this is simple. Many people use ad blockers these days. And most of these software block image ads. Therefore, your image ad only ends without showing anything. In addition, text ads are more contextual than image ads, increasing your CTR.

2 Ways to Test Google AdSense Ads on your Website

As a webmaster you may need to change the design of your site sometimes. And every time you change the design of your site, you want to place the AdSense ads in such a way that you get the maximum CTR and therefore, the revenue.

But while you do, you have to update your site many times. And what you don't realize is that every time you update the site, you are sending a request to Google’s ad servers to search for new ads.
